'ello! Let's see, not too much has happened over the last couple of days . . . I had a pretty normal day at work on Tuesday, and there were plenty of phlebs in the main lab so I wasn't running around like mad (as on Mon). I had just enough time to go home and change into comfier clothes before Karen, Andrea, and Mrs. Smithgall picked me up to get our bridesmaids' dresses fitted (well, technically Andrea's is the maid of honour dress--but 'tis exactly the same as Karen's and mine). We drove about 45 or so to Morris, and didn't get lost--yay! 'Twas the first time I'd actually seen our dresses--they're quite pretty and consist of a white strapless top with sort of a petal-y neckline and a royal blue A-line skirt . . . All the seamstress had to do was pin the end of the skirt up so she could do the hems later. Karen looks the best in her dress--Andrea and I have opposite problems and our tops don't fit very well . . . As we drove home it started pouring and thundering.
Nothing much of import happened yesterday, but 'twas a good day. My mom had another lesson with the girl she's tutoring in Spanish after we ordered yummy Chinese takeout. We actually got The Princess Diaries 2 at our movie theatre on the day it was released, so I think my mom and I are going to see it next Tuesday, when ticket prices are reduced---and of course, I'm going to go see it w/ my SU friends (if anyone brings their car . . .) :)
Today was an interesting day at work. I was at the window, collecting and recieving as usual, when I heard several of the other people in the lab commenting that we were flooding. It sounded like 'twas pouring outside, but when I looked over I noticed that there was a huge pool of water on the floor that stretched from the door to the desk area (about 10 or 15 feet, perhaps?) and another pool of water in the break room. Then we all started laughing about needing rafts and such. The water seeped under the door and flooded the area between the ER door and lab, making a sizeable puddle in ER entrance hallway. The operator announced over the loudspeaker "Housekeeping and maintenence to the lab, STAT", which was quite hilarious--when they came with their Shop-vacs and other things to suck up the water, we found out what had happened: one of the maintenence people had done something with a heater pipe to make sure it was working for the upcoming winter and the pipe, which hadn't been sautered last year, broke. Needless to say, 'twas quite humourous to have 2 inches or so of water in the lab (and as I was leaving to get my lunch, I saw that water was also dripping from the ceiling . . .). We had a free "picnic" lunch to go along with our free casual dress day--'twas raining outside, so we couldn't have an actual picnic. I got my food and then went to my mom's office to have lunch. Alexander was there too for some reason (maybe to help her pack--her office is moving, yet again). I gave my boss my "2 weeks notice" since I have to go back to SU on the 29th--I'm going to miss some of the people that work in the lab :\ . . . We (just the lab staff)had a meeting with the head administrator which included a goody tray of cookies, pretzels, and brownies from the bagel shop downtown. :D I didn't understand half the things my boss was talking about because they applied to the chemistry tests and such . . . we found out that the crabapples our boss used to make the muffins in the break room did not come from his backyard, but he took them from the trees in front of the hospital--hehe . . . I left work half an hour early so I could go to my yearly physical--happily I'm all healthy and such (although the anemia test hurt a bit) . . . I finished watching Chamber of Secrets after dinner (I'd left off when Harry and Ron are following the spiders)--was anyone else saddened that Fawkes in the movie isn't as nifty-looking as the Fawkes on the CoS jacket? I want a phoenix . . . hehe . . .
I tried to make some icons yesterday and today--since this entry is already an epic, I'll be nice and LJ-cut them :) Actually . . . since there are a bunch of them, I'll put them in a separate entry and LJ-cut that . . .
