A few months ago, I decided to make a list of the books I'd read this year. I didn't read nearly as much as I should have, but here's my list:
* The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn ~ Mark Twain
* American Pastoral ~ Philip Roth
* The Awakening ~ Kate Chopin
* Beloved ~ Toni Morrison
* Collected Poems ~ Ted Hughes
* Collected Poems ~ Sylvia Plath
* Death at Bishop’s Keep ~ Robin Paige
* Doctor Who: The Novel of the Film ~ Gary Russell
* The Grand Tour ~ Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer
* Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ~ J.K. Rowling
* His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass ~ Philip Pullman
* Imagined London ~ Anna Quindlen (mostly finished)
* The Jane Austen Book Club ~ Karen Joy Fowler
* Jane Austen's Guide to Good Manners ~ Josephine Ross
* Little Women ~ Louisa May Alcott
* Lost in a Good Book ~ Jasper Fforde
* Meet the Austins ~ Madeline L’Engle
* A Ring of Endless Light ~ Madeline L’Engle
* Songs of Innocence and of Experience ~ William Blake
* Stardust ~ Neil Gaiman
* The Sun Also Rises ~ Ernest Hemmingway
* Three Cups of Tea ~ Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin
* The Time Traveler’s Wife ~ Audrey Niffenegger
* The Well of Lost Plots~ Jasper Fforde
I was still deciding whether I should include manga, so I'll list it separately:
* Emma, Vol. 1 ~ Kaoru Mori
* Megatokyo, Vol. 4 ~ Fred Gallagher
This brings me to a grand total of 23.5 (25.5 if I count the manga)--I'm sure I'll read more this new year, though.

Date: 2007-12-31 04:41 pm (UTC)I should do this. Except it should be a goal list for 2008 instead of what I read in 2007, because that list would be embarrassingly short. GAH! I used to read non-stop, what the heck happened?

Date: 2007-12-31 09:51 pm (UTC)I loved The Time Traveler's Wife (which I just finished yesterday). ::sniffle::
And of course the Thursday Next books ::loves:: I haven't gotten to Something Rotten yet, but I can return it--I'm sure I'll find it elsewhere and this way you can get both of them back at the same time. ^_^
The Grand Tour is the sequel to Sorcery and Cecelia--have you read that yet? They're fun. ^_^
And I rather liked Stardust, too. Oh, and Death at Bishop's Keep is the first book of a late-Victorian cosy mystery series I just got into.
This is now turning into the Longest Comment Ever. Hee!
And I'm sure your list will be much longer next year, I bet working in bookstores tends to have that effect on people!
Oh, definitely. I'll be shelving things, spot something, and think, "Ooh, this looks good! ::add to list::"

Date: 2008-01-01 06:17 am (UTC)Oh yes, I'll bring warm clothes. Did you finish LoM yet? 'Cause we're definitely watching that if no. Of the other ones I was talking about, 'Shadow in the North' is the sequel to 'Ruby in the Smoke', the Victorian mystery with Billie and JJ Feild that aired last Christmas. Did you see that? I have 'Ruby' and am working on 'Shadow'; it just aired yesterday. 'Learners' is a tv movie about a driving school starring David Tennant and several other Who alums, and is really cute. And as far as I can figure out, part one of 'Sense and Sensibility' airs tomorrow (err, today), so we'll have to work on that. And of course I'll bring my folder of random Britishness. And caffeine, because I'm sad like that.
Happy New Year! Talk to you soon.
