lilyofshalott: (Those who dream)

First of all, yay autumn! I went apple-picking with my parents and a friend of ours on Saturday. It was a bit warmer than it usually is when we go, but we had a picnic beforehand which was lovely. There probabably will be pie in the near future and I'm definitely going to make apple bread (it's such a simple recipe and quite delicious as well). We bought a bag of Dove chocolates at the store yesterday and I was happily surprised to find the messages are autumn-themed (I believe this is new--at least I don't remember them doing this last year). To-day's Dove thought: "Read a book under the Autumn trees." Lovely!

I've been working at the bookstore for a little over a month now. It's been going well so for and I do enjoy it. (Oh, and our website is ready!)

Since it's been a while . . . HP scarf progress!

In other knitting news, I'm working on a basketweave scarf for my dad's Christmas present. Once I get my computer back (and have enough scarf to take a proper picture) I'll post pictures. The cuddly TARDIS is on a bit of a hiatus until I figure out how to do the sides, however. At this point I have the top, bottom, and light finished. My parents gave me the materials for the felted tea cosy from KnitPicks for my birthday so I've been working on that as well. That reminds me, I really should learn how to do decreases before I get to that part of the pattern . . . And then there's Ravelry. I'll sign in, intending to look around for a few minutes, and then realise I've been on the site for over an hour. It's a wonderful site, though. (I need to post pictures there, too.)

And it's nearly dinner-time, so I should finish for now.

LJ was down yesterday when I was wandering about the Internet so I decided to go to the KnitPicks website to look up the pattern for the tea cosy I was talking about before. This may not have been a good idea. Why, you ask? I found several more patterns that I'd really like to make :
* Argyle pillow ~ I'd probably change the colour scheme a bit, but how cute is this pillow?)
* Christmas stockings ~ A perfect way to learn how to knit socks (I doubt that I'd make normal-sized socks)! And they're adorable.
* Fingerless mittens/armwarmers ~ I saw a free pattern very similar to this on the LionBrand website, as well

Cut because I'm sure this is going to end up longer than I thought )

GIP! Okay, I'm really not a Ravenclaw, but I saw this icon on [ profile] hphouseicons and had to use it because the quote is rather brilliant. ^_^

To-day's scarf progress = not so much. I only finished two rows while watching Duty (I love how it just ends--how does Horatio deal with his new situation in life, where does Bush end up, &c.). I really didn't get to work on it at all later, either, because we had Alexander's birthday dinner and then I was packing and such for my conference.

Which brings me to the second part of this post. We're leaving fairly early to-morrow so I can get to SU by 8:30 (at the latest) for registration and I'll be gone until Tuesday afternoon-ish. I thought I'd post a silly poll so I can have something fun to read when I get back. ^_^

[Poll #1021173]

(Why is the poll font size larger in the entry preview window?) And now I should go to bed. Perhaps I'll read for a little.

(ETA: I definitely clicked "Sparklypoo" instead of "This is not a ticky box." Silly me--I shouldn't be playing with ticky boxes late at night.)

Scarf update! I haven't done anything (yet) to-day, but I did a bit of knitting yesterday and the day before (In which I think I reached a record--I did six rows yesterday. Yes, I know that's sad. I'm a slooow knitter). I've finished up the fifth trapped bar . . . which means I have nine more for the completed scarf. ::sighs::

In other news, happy birthday Harrison Ford! (It's my brother's birthday too ^_^ )

And for amusement (and to keep this from being solely a knitting progress post) : the Amazing Meganame Generator (snagged from [ profile] petitmayfaircat)!

pure silliness ahead )

Yes, yet another scarf update post (I really don't have anything else to write about).

That is all. For now at least.

(2 rows of which were done yesterday and five of which I did this evening) This is meant to motivate me to knit more/quicker, but it's a rather time-consuming project; I was knitting for three hours (watching the Live Earth concert) and only managed five rows. ::sighs:: To-morrow we'll be picking up Alexander in Lewisburg--he had an Ultimate Frisbee tournament this weekend--so that will be another 4-ish hours of possible knitting time (along with a Wegmans trip, huzzah!).

In other knitting-related news, the summer KnitPicks catalogue came yesterday and I found my fall project (I'm considering changing the colours slightly). I do think this will motivate me to learn increasing/decreasing and double-pointed needle use. And it's adorable. ^_^

Today's horoscope offering from My Yahoo!:

"Sometimes you feel like Alice at the tea party, but other times you identify with the Mad Hatter. Hey, go with it. Even a balanced and graceful sign like yours feels off-kilter every now and then."

Hee! I love when my horoscope is amusing (that's really the only reason I have it on there). It was about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory once--that was fun too. ^_^

That is all.

ETA: Scarf progress as of tonight

lilyofshalott: (We're all mad)

I promised pictures of my current knitting projects, yes? Our Internet has been troublesome lately; I typed this up earlier in the evening in Word which is a bit annoying because then I need to go back and reformat things. Anyway, on to the picspam!

I do love knitting patterns. )

Not quite dimensionally transcendent . . . )

Because cameras want to feel loved, too )
